John Malloy (President)
John moved to the Sunshine Coast 4 years ago and joined Rotary with a view to “giving back” to the community. He has a special interest in supporting local community groups and the “WorkLife” program.
Bob Lane (Treasurer)
Bob is our club treasurer and local businessman. operating his hypnosis consultancy, helping people make positive adjustments to their behaviours and lifestyle. Bob is lead sponsor for the “SunnyCoast Winter Solstice Swim”, raising funds for local domestic violence refuge.
Peter Darnell (Past President)
Peter served the club as President for the past two years, and has settled on the coast after a successful career in hospitality and event management in Europe. Peter’s special interest is in community work and supporting the homeless.
Tony Freeman (Director)
Tony has extensive experience with Rotary all over Australia. A past Assistant Governor and manager of business at the District Conference, Tony has also been involved in many District and National Rotary programs, and has attended many Rotary International functions.
Prue Byrnes (Youth Director)
Prue is a local business women and a strong supporter of many local causes. As Youth Director Prue is our liaison with schools and organisations where Rotary can support and inspire the young. Prue is also closely involved with helping the disabled, and a key fundraiser for community causes.
Denys Alt (Director)
Denys is a key member of the “Surf Show and Shine” leadership team , and much of the credit for the growth of this event goes to Denys who has been involved with this iconic event since its inception.
Trevor Smith (Director)
Trevor is a local architect, who has an extensive history with Alex Rotary, organising events, Bunnings BBQ’s, guest speakers etc, all with a goal of raising funds and / or resources for the community.
At Alex Rotary we are extremely fortunate to have enthusiastic members who come from all walks of life, but who share in the common goal of “Making a difference” to our community.
We have members from vetenary science, teaching, hospitality, engineering, nursing, health management, government, small business, etc. etc.
We are also delighted to have our local MP Fiona Simpson as an Honorary member.
