Bunnings helps out BrightwaterThe club has received $120 worth of gift tokens from Bunnings Maroochydore, which will go towards Brightwater School bike project. In other Bunnings news, we have a BBQ in Easter Sunday, and a BIG thanks to those members and friends who have come to Bunnings and the clubs rescue to man up for the BBQ at short notice. We understand it was a last minute cancellation, and it will be a while before we receive another opportunity to fundraise at Bunnings. AM 7.30 - 11.30am

Kristy comes to talk to club Kristy McKinnon from Okinja Early Learning Centre was our guest speaker on Wednesday morning. The club has been helping out the ELC in a very small way by donation of the BBQ trailer for the ELC’s Christmas party in the park. It became apparent that the ELC is a active in the community as we got to know Kristy and the team better. It’s all part of the ELC to develop the kids in their care with a well rounded and complete education and experience of their environment. So the beach and environment are part of the kids experience. With these experiences the ELC engage with the Alex Community Association and the Alex SLSC. So it was great to catch up and hear more about the amazing staff at Okinja, and there’s rumblings about how the Rotary Club and ELC can extend their relationship. Stay tuned. Club donates $5,000 to prevent drowning During the week the club heard from the Global Water Safety team. The great news is that the group will be stating the water safety program on 8-12 April at Mountain Creek Pool. The program is called “Rythmn of the Water" and members are invited to a cheque presentation at 9am on 8th April at the pool where the club will donate $5,000 in support of the program Here’s the link to this emerging club, also part of District 962. It's one of the top 5 most effective charities in the world, helping all sorts of causes here and overseas, ..and all your club donations add up. Club asked to help out with Arden’s plightThe club received an email from our friends at The Board Meeting Surf Charity during the week. It concerned a young chap Arden, wo needs a bit of a help with getting a car suitable for his wheelchair. Now, as some readers may be aware The BoardRoom Surf charity is winding down, and so they are unable to meet this in full. Undeterred Arden’s parents have started a go fund me page, and if that target is reached, the The Boardroom surf charity will match it dollar for dollar and Arden will have his car, and a much better life. 
..and here is Mark's message to the club, together with a GoFund me link that members may care to follow.. Without additional fundraising, our resources are depleting quickly but there are some requests that we just have to help and little Arden is one of those. The family desperately need a car that can be converted for wheelchair access.The family is committed to fundraising $25,000 through their GoFundMe page and if they can do this, we should be able to match that dollar-for-dollar.Rather than donating directly to The BoardMeeting, as you have in the past, perhaps Alex Rotary could contribute to their GoFundMe and get them there quickly. We would really appreciate your support. Mark Skinner for teh Board Meeting Surf Charity Solstice Swim Now that the club has chosen Inclusive Kids as our beneficiary for the Solstice Swim things are starting to get a head of steam. We have some very enthusiastic and capable members helping out with helping the Swim reach its target of 300 swimmers and $40,000 in community aid. Currently we're asking members to let community minded sponsors know that their club is running a charity swim for Inclusive Kids. If you can help, and need a poster or a letter for a potential sponsor, just let the secretary know at RCAHsecretary@gmail.com 
It’s early days still but we have had strong swim registrations without any advertising, and on Wednesday we handed out flyers to assist the members raise awareness (and funds) for Inclusive Kids. 
Request from Blaze AidOur mate Charmaine has been busy with BlazeAid over the year, and during the week we heard from Charmaine that she is helping BlazeAid with their fundraising at the upcoming Gynpie Muster later in the year. So the club has been asked to provide our BBQ trailer so that the 40+ team can have hot meals during the event. Here’s some of Charmaine’s note with some details on what BlazeAid have been doing to help communities in Australia, : “All of our 15 Blazeaid trailers are currently in use at flood and fire affected disasters throughout various states in Australia helping our farmers recover after their respective disasters. Our Blazeaid Constitution states that our trailers are to be used for disaster relief and not for fundraising purposes. The Gympie Music Muster Team have just given Blazeaid the opportunity to earn some desperately needed funds by roping off and setting up 10 000 campsites before the Gympie Music Festival from 24 July to 24 August and we need to feed our 40 volunteers a healthy and nutritious meal every day. Good luck with the Solstice Swim as it looks like a great event and if you need any help - I would love to assist in some way.” Charmaine …and here’s a pic from memory lane when the club went a little way outback to Murgon to help BlazeAid in 2013.
